SENIOR/JUNIOR SOCIAL MEDIA PRODUCERs (FREELANCE)
Velon wants to reach even more fans with our unique, innovative content during the 2021 Grand Tours.
Velon has extensive access to the sport and wants to tell the stories of the riders and teams in new and unique ways. There are vacancies for social media producers to come on board to help ramp up our publishing operation and deliver successful, innovative content formats.
There are multiple roles available, that will suit journalists and producers at both senior and junior levels working on multiple projects. Velon is a flexible organisation and has different roles to suit availability, from 2/3 days a month to 12 days a month, with the opportunity for extra days of work during major events.
To work with Velon, you should have:
Demonstrable knowledge of, or interest in, professional cycling [or at the very least, evidence of a broad interest in sport and the ability to learn fast!]
Experience of working as part of a content/editorial team - everything from creating your own content to sub-editing and publishing content from others, engaging with fans on Velon’s accounts, and other relevant production tasks.
Experience of working on content production during major sporting events.
Some experience of working on social media content for sporting organisations or media outlets, alongside an understanding of the characteristics of each platform and what works best for each audience.
Understanding of audience data concepts and tools and the ability to apply it in your work. An ability to spot trends and translate these into opportunities and content.
Image and video editing skills that allow you to produce high-quality, social media native content that will engage fans and drive clicks. Proficiency with an industry-standard editing programme/software such as FCPX, Adobe Creative Cloud etc is desirable, as is a creative/innovative eye.
Ability to contribute to short and medium-term editorial planning and review sessions.
Familiarity with working as part of a distributed team, keeping in touch over Zoom/Teams/et al.
Journalistic training or accreditation by a relevant educational institute or organisation [desirable, equivalent experience is acceptable].
English speaker, with the ability to speak and write fluently and idiomatically [essential]. Proficiency in French, Dutch, German, Italian and or Spanish is a bonus, but not necessary for the role.
Applicants will be assigned to Junior/Senior roles based on experience conveyed by the applicant in the hiring process.

100-200 words on an idea for a new video format you’d propose Velon launches for this year’s Grand Tours.
Deadline: ASAP, with the intention of appointing successful candidates no later than 26th April. Velon is a distributed organisation and all staff work remotely. Role is open to candidates based in the UK or EU.
