Vuelta a España 2019: Jakob Fuglsang wins stage 16

Breakaway rider Jakob Fuglsang climbed to a solo victory on stage 16 of the Vuelta a España as Primoz Roglic extended his overall lead.

Fuglsang (Astana Pro Team) beat Tao Geoghegan Hart (Team INEOS) into second place by 22 seconds. Luis Leon Sanchez (Astana Pro Team) was 18 seconds further back in third.

Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma) now leads second-placed Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) by 2’48” after the world champion was dropped on the final climb.

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) has closed to within 54 seconds of Valverde in third.
